In 2022, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s call center received over 100,000 calls for reports of missing children.
The Children’s Identification and Location Database- (Child Project™) has been designed to help locate missing children through advanced iris biometric recognition technology, by taking a simple high-speed digital photograph of the individual’s irises.
The Child Project™ is a secure nationwide network and registry, which enables law enforcement and social service agencies throughout the country to positively identify children. Implementation of the CHILD Project™ began in early 2005 and is continuing in Sheriffs’ offices across the country.
