Business News Security, UPI.com: BI2 selected for facial ID solutions

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- The Massachusetts Sheriffs' Association has selected Biometric Intelligence and Identification Technologies to deliver facial identification solutions.

BI2 Technologies announced it will provide Massachusetts' 14 county sheriff's departments with Animetrics Inc.'s two- and three-dimensional face recognition technologies integrating next-generation ID solutions to cross reference most wanted lists and other security applications.

The contract additionally includes deliveries of the facial ID technologies to as many as 28 police departments in Massachusetts.

BI2 Technologies says Animetrics' ID solution is designed to collect the face's natural information in a three-dimensional view and use algorithms from biometric templates for an accurate identification technology.

"The Massachusetts Sheriffs' Association is setting the standard for the nation by implementing facial recognition throughout the state by ensuring that the technology is being made available to local police departments as well as county Sheriffs," Sean Mullin, BI2 Technologies president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
